Event Description: Roald Dahl’s Classic Family Favorite ‘James and the Giant Peach, Jr’ at DMTC’s Young Performers Theater From the composers of La La Land and Dear Evan Hansen Davis Musical Theatre Company’s Young Performers Theater presents Roald Dahl's fantastical tale of a boy, his insect friends and their amazing journey across the ocean on a giant piece of fruit. James and the Giant Peach, junior, plays every weekend, April 29 through May 21, at the Jean Henderson Performing Arts Center (607 Pena Drive #10, Davis) in Davis. When James is sent by his conniving aunts to chop down their old fruit tree, he discovers a magic potion that results in a tremendous peach ... and launches a journey of enormous proportions. Suddenly, James finds himself in the center of the gigantic peach – among human-sized insects with equally oversized personalities. But, after it falls from the tree and rolls into the ocean, the group faces hunger, sharks and plenty of disagreements. Thanks to James' quick wit and creative thinking, the residents learn to live and work together as a family. The dangerous voyage is a success, but the adventure takes a whole new twist once they land on the Empire State Building. Scott Daugherty will direct, with Krissy Schwerin (choreography) and Tylen Einweck (musical direction), this fun-for-the-whole-family production. Young performers featured include Gavin Mark as "James" and Jack Driggers as "Ladhalord." Jack and the Beanstalk plays Saturdays, April 29 through May 20 (2 p.m. matinees), plus Friday, May 19 (7 p.m.), and a closing performance Sunday, March 21 (2 p.m.). All performances are at the Jean Henderson Performing Arts Center, 607 Pena Drive in East Davis. Tickets are just $8, plus $2 facility fee.
