This is such a great barre studio. Workouts are more well rounded/full body than other barre franchises, the instructors are lovely, the overall vibe is great. Also, the studio is very clean, has well merchandised store in front (ie lululemon, and high end clothing brands), well supplied restroom (eg hair bands, feminine products, hairspray, etc).

I joined this Pure Barre Davis studio a few months ago after the grand re-opening under new management. My experience so far has been incredibly positive-
Pros:
1. There are three types of regular classes available on a weekly basis- Classic, Reform, and Empower with consistent times and rotation between formats and instructors. Classic is the most straightforward and best for all levels of fitness. Reform adds an extra level of challenge with stretchy bands and these sliders that I think are so much fun to use (this one is my personal favorite). Empower adds arm and ankle weights, and a platform. I love each type of class I've taken and find each meets my fitness goals. I'm currently training to run my first half marathon and the cross training with Pure Barre has helped me increase my running pace and prevent old injuries from flaring up.
2. The quality of classes is consistent between instructors (though each has her own style) so I know what to expect. I'm able to go to the 6am class before work and know I will get a great workout. The intentional rotation keeps everything fresh.
3. The app makes it really easy to review the weekly schedule and book my preferred classes ahead of time for the week. I find this to be the extra motivation I need to stay consistent with my workout schedule. With 3 small children and a full time job, this is exactly what I need to stay on track.
4. There are monthly challenges to participate in to earn prizes, I find this to be both fun and motivational. Example- this month is BINGO, so each person can earn prizes for doing a certain number of push-ups, taking certain classes, holding a 90 second plank, etc. It's inspiring me to step outside of my comfort zone and try new things.
5. The new owners are three women from Davis collaborating with other Davis small businesses to intentionally support and build the community. They are constantly establishing new partnerships which then offer Pure Barre members discounts as well as opportunities to attend cool special events. I attended the pop-up class at Great Bear recently and found it so refreshing to take an outdoor class complimented afterward by a well-earned glass of wine shared in good company.
6. The pricing is competitive with surrounding and similar businesses. For the amount of classes events I like to attend I find the unlimited membership to be the best cost savings. When I first joined I tried the 1x per week plan, but I felt so great after every class I upgraded to unlimited right away. They do run sign up specials on top of the already very reasonable price if you're looking for a deal or are a student.
7. I've found the owners to have a very customer service oriented mindset, so for example, when I was out with Covid there was no trouble freezing my account.
8. The merchandise in the front of the store is well priced and high quality. I found some brand name items for less than I can get them online. They also have some unique products like special hairbands and arm weights I had never tried before, but now I'm hooked!
9. The studio is clean and well maintained-an absolute must these days!
Cons/Opportunities-
1. I know staffing has been a challenge. That being said, they're very thoughtful with their scheduling, so for me there is always a class available during the hours I want to work out. I'm looking forward to them adding even more classes to the schedule. I'm looking forward to dropping in any time I feel like getting a workout in or to go shopping for new workout clothes any time.
In summary, I highly recommend this gym to anyone in the Davis area looking to improve their fitness while supporting a locally owned small business. I would also recommend a visit to Pure Barre Davis to anyone from out of town looking for a unique and community oriented fitness experience.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Are they ever open? I have gone multiple times during supposed business hours to sign up and they're just never there, door locked. Today same thing at 2pm!

Took my first class here today with my sister & we had a really good experience. We were greeted by the general manager (forgot her name), but she was very friendly & gave us a quick tour of the place. Studio is very clean & spacious. Our instructor was Sigrid & she was great as well.
I have taken barre classes before at other studios that were slightly more challenging than the Foundations class we took today, however I think that's the point of the Foundations class - just to introduce you to the movements & common terminology of barre. I'm looking forward to coming back & trying another class (hopefully a little more challenging)!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

This location continues to charge me monthly despite the fact that we are in a global pandemic, I cannot access their virtual classes, and they've told me my account is on hold. At this moment I can't tell if they're incompetent, greedy, or both.
